- Way too average, - DepressingUnable to cope with a recent personal tragedy, LA’s top celebrity shrink turns into a pothead with no concern for his appearance and a creeping sense of his inability to help his patients.
I’ve had Shrink for awhile and was just waiting to watch it, but everytime I thought about it, there was always something else that I wanted to watch instead, that impulse was not unfounded. Shrink wasn’t bad by any means, it was just very average. A film about a depressed man who counsels people as he needs to be, which is a great plot because a lot of times counselors feel like they have to stand on this mental health hierarchy, when in fact, they deal with a lot more stories than the average person. The film was depressing to a degree, but they could have taken this concept so much further. Films like “The Good Girl”, do such a better job with showing the mundane position of ‘going through the motions’, and these seemed very fabricated. The acting was good. Overall, not a bad film, but not as good as it sounded.
